Over a Century of History
A letter from Gerald Van Dam – President circa 2024:
Established in 1895, our movers and riggers have re-located everything from entire manufacturing facilities to atomic reactors.
When it comes to heavy duty industrial moving, Gelock is the recognized leader in West Michigan. Every job is handled by experienced personnel with the technical know-how to get the job done. They are equipped with the most modern, up-to-date equipment.
Over the years, numerous clients requested more than just transport services. They wanted a total tear-down and set up of highly sophisticated machinery.
To meet this need, in 1970 we purchased Hastings Equipment Company (now HEL, Inc <link>). The total machine shop was re-located within our Grand Rapids facility. Soon after, Industrial Electrical Services and Rite-Way Plumbing and Heating Company also joined our ranks.
With the merging of these three companies, we have the in-house talent to tackle any project, from a small moving job to re-locating an entire factory. We call it “total turnkey capability”.
